My husband and I recently moved into a small apartment and we found that our fridge/freezer combo is smaller than the one we had in our old place and it has an ice maker which we love having, but it takes up room as well.

I am use to batch cooking and freezing meals for use during the week. I also make frozen lunch meals for my husband to heat up during the work week. I also like to freeze bread when I find it on sale. Right now I have to be careful about how many meals I fit into the freezer, but it is doable if I am mindful of my cooking and prep work.

For those who have a small freezer chest do you find it was worth the investment? $160 is a lot of money for us, but not something we can't manage. We will be paying cash, it just will make next month a little tight in terms of discretionary spending. We don't eat a lot of meat ,maybe once a week if that, so stocking up on meat sales isn't something we would take advantage of.
