There's a lot of people on Craigslist looking for free clean dirt. Issue is they all want it delivered to them (for free). I posted an ad on Craigslist explicitly saying I do not own a truck and thus cannot deliver... Yet every single message I've received is asking if I deliver. What's the most frugal route of getting rid of this dirt? I've contacted local landscape suppliers and while they will accept the dirt as its clean, they don't offer a pickup service.
It would be:
$20 to rent a pickup from Home Depot/Lowes/Menards (75-90 minutes max, no reservations) and $100 to rent a dumping trailer from Home Depot (all day). Since it will definitely take me more than an hour to shovel all this dirt, I would need to rent the truck twice (once to pick up the trailer, and once to take the trailer somewhere to dump the dirt). At a minimum, I am looking at $140 and a full day of shoveling.
This is not dirt I can repurpose anywhere else as I've already finished all of my landscaping.
