I have a 27yo DD son who lives with me. He has had a Facebook friend from High school for about a year, she was the one that sent the friend request. He did not remember her but claims that she was from his HS. This last month she started to message him and wanted to send him a birthday present which was coming up. So he gave her our address and his phone number and he received a phone from Alibaba that when looked up is worth about $13.00. It is a knock off of a "Land Rover" Phone if that matters. After this she made an excuse that her boyfriend was jealous of their relationship and she had to unfriend him from Facebook. This just sounds so odd for a middle aged dad. Does anyone know if this is a scam? I doubt they could get a CC if they stole his identity as he has no credit history and very little income. I am still planning on freezing his credit as there is no need for him to be using it anyway. Any help or information is appreciated.

Edit: So, after a the few replies I got I told him that criminals gave him that phone to steal his information and he agreed to destroy it and had a fun 5 min. with a hammer in the back yard. I will find a place to recycle the battery so that is not an issue. Thanks you your help folks. I enjoy Reddit for this type of information the best but, will stay for the Factorio memes when I'm not trying to figure out our too complicated world.
