I see a lot of posts about furniture on here so I thought I'd give some insight from my experience. When I moved in to my 1st apartment I got a lot of second hand furniture. It has done the job and there are a lot of pieces that I love. However, I have found myself replacing or wishing I had just saved up for nicer pieces with some of the stuff I have because it's not very functional in my very small apartment. Example: 25 dollar used tv stand has very narrow shelving, no drawers etc. so it doesn't hold much. Something I do love that I bought new but very cheaply is those metal shelves you can buy at walmart. They're usually under 100 dollars, adjustable and sturdy. They're also unassuming enough to go with almost any decor.
