So I’ve been promoted at my company and I’ve been in my new position since July 1, 2021.
I found out about a month ago that my old manager never filed a form to start the process of me getting my new salary. My new manager filed it and then told me I’d have to wait till Sept. 3rd to actually start getting paid the salary.
Last pay check I was direct deposited twice: the first one was my old salary pay and the other was “back pay” for the first two weeks I began my promotion (there was a huge chunk of taxes taken out).
Fast forward to this paycheck and I didn’t receive ANY back pay only my old salary. At first, I didn’t think to question all of this. But now that I’ve been getting stretched real thin at work I feel there is no incentive for me to work till I start getting paid my actual salary.
Does this seem right?? Can anyone that works in Payroll or HR give any insight as to why a company would make an employee wait so long to receive their salary?
Also, this may have been stupid of me, I never received any form of information or documentation on my new salary.
Please let me know if I can help clarify anything! Any help is appreciated.
