I looked at Anytime Fitness and they want your checking account info. They won't let you use a credit card. Their terms are awful and it's clear they are going to completely rip you off. I walked out.

I am looking at Planet Fitness. They seem less scammy but they still try to get your checking account info (I am under the impression from my sister that you can sign up without that but maybe not online). They misrepresent their fees, like Anytime Fitness, but they seem more reasonable. I mean, supposedly it's $10/month but then there's tax on that, whatever. But then there's an "annual fee". Which means, it's really more like $14/month but they don't want to be up front about that. $14/month is NOTHING to me financially, but it makes me suspicious and is quite frankly insulting that they lie.

I am going under the assumption that if I sign up, the only way I'll ever be able to cancel is to dispute the charges on my credit card and/or close out my credit card. I have a Chase credit card. Any experience with this?
