Should I consolidate my loans? I’m currently not paying on these student loans due to COVID forbearance which ends this year 11/28/2021. I’ve jungles the idea of paying it all off - I have enough saved to pay it off without being in a bind savings wise ($81k in personal savings currently). But with the low-ish interest rates, I’ve decided not to.
Any other advice to tackle this loan is appreciated!
I have 5 separate student loans through Nelnet (see breakdown below) totaling to $17,496. Each loan was from a separate years in college.
Nelnet’s payment structure takes the minimum payment that I pay ($240 per month) and allocates funds to each loan (interest and principle). Before covid, I was paying an additional $100 to the loan that was incurring the most interest.
$2,269 @ 3.86% $2,829 @ 4.66% $1,307 @ 4.29% $5,337 @ 4.29% $5,751 @ 3.76%
