Hi all, I've recently been offered an interim management position (that could become permanent).
Because the job does not pay benefits, there is an additonal percentage paid "in lieu", so it's actually not a bad salary - but I have chronic health issues and high costs for medical supplies. I'll also have to source my own additional insurance for accidental death/dismemberment, or if I get another health issue, etc.
I was thinking about asking for more money to help offset these costs, because my healthcare costs are higher than the average person's. (this job is in healthcare corporate services, btw).
Other considerations are:
My leverage is minimal. I want the job, and I've been out of this industry for over a year.
I will definitely be working additional hours, (unpaid) because of how busy and senior the position is.
Boss referred to it as a "draft" offer when we spoke on the phone.
The salary seems to be more than what was earned by the person I'm replacing (but less than my quoted range for desired pay in the application - its in the lower-middle end of market rate for that seniority level)
No PTO because it's a contract gig.
the interview process was LONG (5 interviews) and I'm not sure I was everybody's preferred candidate, so I don't want to piss off my new boss if I was the their second favorite.
What does Reddit think? Press for a small increase, or take the gig and ask for more if the job becomes permanent?
