HI I'm in CA, I sold a house last year, and did prepay the state tax through escrow of 7k last year, so I claimed it on my tax return. But FTB sent me a letter stating they don't have a record of this 7k and ask me to pay it plus penalty. however, when I contacted the escrow company, they did provide proof they paid it to the FTB and on the back of the check, it has the FTB stamp showing they cashed it, so anyone know whats going on here? And do I just send the evidence to FTB since I can't get anyone on the phone through their phone system?
