I am in the US and work for a company on a H1b visa while my long term gf is an f1 student. We live in different states and I would like to get a joint apartment lease with her while still having my own apartment lease where I work.
She is funded by her dept for her tuition and is paid a stipend. However, this is not enough for leasing companies that requires her to show 3x rent as her salary to be approved (She is able to only show 2.5x). She can afford the actual rent as I've gone through her budget/spending in detail. i can afford to help her out if need be just in case too. I also intend to visit her more often this year than I was able to last year. (I'm aware of the limitations of my visa on this point)
I'm looking for potential issues with this setup in terms of future background checks or visa related that might arise due to simultaneously having two leases in different states.
Problems about relationship going south are not my concern.
