So...I live in NYC and my rent is high as hell, like $3500 total with all bills and rent and amenities. While I really like my place and feel safe here. I'm spending so much money renting with nothing to show for it.

Now I make a good salary with a great higher earning potential but here's the thing...

I'm on a leave of absence right now. I was out on leave for anxiety and depression THEN when I was supposed to return, my mother got sick and I needed to apply for NY PFL. So right now, i'm waiting for an approval.

My shitty ass employer sent me a TERMINATION LETTER the day I applied for NY Paid Family Leave! Then they caught their mistake and realized that they'd be fined and reprimanded for discrimination and retaliation as NY STATE has a no retaliation policy. Basically, you can't retaliate and fire someone on the spot just for applying for leave.

I had NO disciplinary or performance or attendance issues so my bitch of a manager termed me out of spite!

So I obviously don't want to return to this job in October because they want me out for taking too much leave apparently and if I go back, they're going to set me up to be fired. I just know it!

So I have high ass rent, a shitty employer, and my lease is up for renewal.

The thing is, I want to move to LA or Denver but I don't know if this is the right time, plus I just got a new puppy.

I wanted to save more money to pay off a loan I took out and so the plan was to move in with my family through the end of the year, but i'd have to get a new job once my leave runs out at the beginning of October.

I told my apartment people that I can't renew for a year so they're letting me do a 6 month lease but I don't know if I should do that.

I literally have to make a decision tonight and I have no idea on what to do.

My family lives in a small town. There's not much going on there. It's a rural city with chain restaurants and a mall and a movie theater but it's nothing compared to life here in NYC but I don't know.

Moving costs a fucking fortune.

I would have to sell all my furniture or throw it all away as moving it cross country would exceed the value of most of the furniture.

Having to apply for an apartment again, go through the process, etc.

I mean I have proof of income and have the credit to get another apartment but I don't know what to do.

Can ya'll help me out?
