I know this sounds obvious but invest in a digital scale and take the time to make your own hamburger patties. This is cheaper than premade patties and they freeze great.
We buy large packs of beef when we find it on sale and make up 12-16 4 oz patties depending on how much is in a pack.
We also use these patties for other recipes. If you need a pound to make tacos, pull out 4 patties. Those are much easier to defrost and cook than a pound of frozen hamburger.
