Hey there!

So I am planning on quitting my job in ~September to devote my full time to transitioning to a career in tech. At that time, I also plan on moving from my current city to Seattle to live with my friend. He is currently looking for apartments now, as his lease expires in August (planning on paying a month of rent before I get there). Money is not an issue and I have enough to last for a couple years with no employment. I don't expect to be unemployed for over half a year either

However, I am nervous about the apartment application information he sent me to fill out. It of course asks for income verification and for an employer contact. I'm nervous the landlords will call my employer and reveal that I am trying to rent a place in Seattle. This would definitely raise red flags with my employer.

Is this not a problem? Should I list myself as unemployed and just provide bank account balances to show I have the money? Should I offer to pay up front?

I'm really not sure the best way to go about this, so I ask for any advice you may have.

Thank you!
