My dad hasn’t filed his taxes since at least 2016 after his CPA’s license was suspended which subsequently lead to him moving. The only exception is what I’m assuming was a self attempt at filing for the 2018 tax year since I saw an opened letter from the IRS saying he owed $14,452.15 in overdue taxes + penalties that are due Tuesday. I constantly remind him he needs to hire a professional to go over his back taxes and current taxes to get it done and over with but he won’t listen.

As far as I know, he’s not struggling financially by any means, he’s just a hard headed crooked cheapskate but that’s another issue for another day. Bottom line and personal feelings aside, that’s still my dad and his business is the only thing he has going for him so I don’t want to see him lose it. He’s in his 60’s and could retire whenever he wanted but he doesn’t want to legally pay anybody else to run the store but if he loses it all together I don’t know how long he could sustain his current lifestyle with 0 income. There’s no way he’ll be able to find another job since he never learned much English and I’m worried how bad his taxt debt might be and I’m worried he might be involved in some deeper more complex fraud than the fraud I know about. Is there anything I can do to get him back on track? I don’t know Farsi and he barely knows English so communicating with him his like talking to a chair sometimes but I really don’t want to see him lose everything he worked decades to build up. I need to get through that hard head of his so he knows the IRS isn’t a joke and what he’s doing is seriously bad.
