I was directed here from another subreddit.
My story: I ended up homeless after an abusive situation. I just recently got a job, and I’m trying to figure out how to be responsible with my money once I get a decent paycheck.
I just recently received my first paycheck. It was only for $71 since it was only two days of work during that pay period. I completely panicked. This is the first time I’ve had money in six months. I didn’t know what to do with it.
So, I spent almost all of it on outfits for work (from Goodwill of course) and a new pair of shoes for work (mine were wearing thin.
Next paycheck I anticipate to receive quite a bit more, of course. Right now, I’m living off about $3 a day until payday.
Once I receive my check, what do you guys recommend as the best way to make my money last? How much should I be saving towards housing and transportation? How much should I be saving for emergencies? How much should I be spending a week for food?
Any and all advice is welcome. Thank you for taking the time to read!
