I am quite a frugal man myself, but my GF beats me to it in every respect.
She is using an iPhone 6 right now, which is working fine for her, but in cold weather the battery is just unacceptable.
I thought I should treat her to a new iPhone, because I know she would never buy it for herself, yet I believe the difference in quality for such an important piece of equipment would make her happy.
I was doubting between the iPhone SE and iPhone Mini. But a few days later, when I got home and she showed me her new purchase, i had to doubt no more. She bought a battery case for her phone!
Apparently I suggested it to her once. It solved all her issues with her phone, and albeit a bit heavy, only in cold weather she needs it, or on long day trips. The whole reason I wanted to buy her that phone disappeared.
10 USD instead of 400USD for a new phone, money well spent.
But I still couldn't get her a gift that she deserves.
(i know not all gifts are monetary, and I know how to give her stuff to make her happy, I just wanted to share this story because I think its funny and it fits here
