I have been reading a lot about cards like Chase Freedom or Citibank Doublecash - no annual fees, and % cash back. Free money if you pay every month, no interest charges. That makes total sense!
But psychologically, does it make people spend more overall? Like, thinking that you are getting "a good deal" because you are going to essentially save 2% or 5% or whatever on the purchase. Seems like it might be a slippery slope of spending to maximize cash back as opposed to truly being frugal. This is why I think I might not do it. Because with debit, I truly feel that it is my cash directly leaving my account. Not a middle-card, funky monthly payment thing. But maybe I am alone in my hunch on this. What do other folks think?
