So I recently moved back in with my parents and while it is super comfortable and easy I am 26 years old and I’m really craving independence. Sadly, that just doesn’t seem possible right now given my current resume/credentials. I want some advice on the quickest and way to find myself a decent-paying job from where I’m at. I am very fortunate in that my parents are willing to support me financially (classes, rent, food). I currently have around 56 college credits from reputable schools including calc 1 and computer science 1 and 2 (although I got a D in data structures so I doubt that will transfer). My resume has several warehouse and food industry jobs on it, nothing special. I would like to use my current situation to save money working a part time job while spending most of my time and energy doing whatever it is I can to best set my future up for success and financial independence. The problem is, I don’t know what I should do. Should I get an associates degree from a community college? Is that a waste of time? Should I go straight for a bachelors? That could take years which is a long time. Should I continue in the field of computer science? I would MUCH prefer something at least a little less work intensive as I’ve suffered considerable brain damage in the past 5 years. Any advice is greatly appreciated. If there is a specific subreddit I should be posting this on instead, please tell me which one. What I’m really looking for is advice on the quickest path with the highest chance of getting me a job that will allow me to live my life comfortably (rent, food etc). Nothing luxurious. I would be happy with 40$k a year but at the moment the types of jobs willing to hire me don’t pay half of that, but I have a great opportunity right now and I want to know how to best take advantage of it. Thanks.
