I've been in the stock market for a few years but i'm still a real rookie, and today I read this idea in a forum of an investment company i've owned for a while:

Why not copy the portfolio of an investment company instead of buying the investment company itself? Like buying/selling the same %-amount of x and y stocks like they do?

Would there be any benefits/disadvantages of doing this? I think it would be a real waste of time trying to follow up with them on your part-time, but I don't know how much these types of companies take in provision (or whatever the right word would be).

Just seemed like a fun idea. I like investment companies alot, it feels like a safe and easy way to increase your portfolio, letting a group of smart people handle the hard part!
