Hello. I had some ultrasounds ordered by my doctor because I have PCOS. I expected them to cost me about $400-500.

Surprise, I noticed that my deductible is now at $2,600/5,500. The entirety of that was for “diagnostic imagining”.

I decided to shop around online and found that, at the exact same office, I could have ordered the ultrasound ahead of time and paid $361 for “a complete pelvic ultrasound exam” which is what I got.

I have never had insurance before. Is what shows up as deductible always the bill you will get from your provider? If so, how do I go about disputing this?

I would be able to pay the $2,600 if I postpone all of my major life plans for this year, but I think that’s ridiculous for a $400 procedure. I would have rather walked in and paid for it myself and never told them I had insurance.
