Any reputable sellers to find a bargain price on a used or refurbished Macbook Air or Macbook Pro? What do you think about buying refurbished laptops from eBay?

On the r/SuggestALaptop subreddit somebody suggested that I should buy a MacBook Air. They gave me a link to the newest model on the apple website. When I looked, the price was high, at 999 USD to 1249 USD. I wonder if there is a way I could be more frugal and get a MacBook Air for less. I would buy one for cheaper on eBay but I don't know how to know if I'm being scammed.
