Help! I am 30 years old, moving from one decently paying job to another ($60K range). For the last four years, I've had no expenses as part of my job, so I've been able to save around $35K in a regular savings account and $25k in a 403B. I have no debt.

I'm moving to a HCOL area, in a job that no longer covers my expenses. I'll be looking at paying rent finally. But I'm hoping to keep my expenses somewhat low and keep saving, at least in some smaller increment.

Here's my question.... What the heck am I saving for?! I know the "should" goals -- I "should" save for emergencies and retirement and a house and and and... but I don't have anything that I've honed in on. In some ways, home ownership seems right, but I don't think it's realistic in the area I'm living in. At least not yet.

So as I keep stashing cash away, I am often left wondering "What am I doing?"

Anyone else feel this way? Any tips on how to solidify or zone in on the "right" thing? I enjoy my job and line of work, my needs are met. What should I aim for next?
