I live on my own and rent a house, I pay all my bills and whatever money I have left over each month I pay off my credit card debt, so i don’t have money for a house deposit.

I’ve been with my bf for 3 years this December and he lives with his mum, so she’s got some money saved.

He’s looking at getting a mortgage and as his mum will be paying for the deposit bf says me being on the mortgage will cause an issue between them.

I’m working hard to get out of debt and trying to build my investment portfolio.

If I pay my bf 50% share of the mortgage and bills each month. That’s split even down the middle

However, if we both put in money to gut the house and decorate it how we like when he sells by law that’s his profit.

I don’t want to be investing into a guys house for him to take benefit when it sells.

Plus if we broke up... he wouldnt have to contact me and offer to give me my share of what I put into the house

I need some grown up investment advice of how to handle this situation.

I’m thinking, I just pay the bills and food and he pays his own mortgage bill. I will pay for furnishings eg sofas, stuff that I can take with me if we ever broke up.
