I started my refinance app on Oct 3 with a local Wells Fargo loan advisor, everything went well and I provided all the documents and paid to have my place appraised. Nov 16 I received an update from the Well's Fargo's loan tracker saying to contact my loan advisor, I tried for the next 2 weeks and could not get hold of anyone on Wells Fargo's end. Finally I called Wells Fargo Home Mortgage's national customer service line, I was then told the reason why I couldn't get hold of anyone was because the advisor has left the company AND my application was canceled. With no explanation provided I looked up other local Wells Fargo mortgage bankers and I was finally able to get someone to tell me the reason application was denied was because my HOA's old declaration had an clause not allowing permanent resident under the age of 14. My neighbor, the previous owner of my unit, as well as the current HOA board chairman all have children well under age of 14 so I checked with HOA board to see what's going on. I was told this was amended years ago with the county.
With this information I went back to Wells Fargo, they confirmed they found the amendment at county which void this bylaw in the original declaration. I was told the information will be forwarded to their condo department to have the application reopened. A week later with no feedback I contacted Wells Fargo again, this time I was told unfortunately they can't reopen the application, I'd have to restart from scratch. At this point I have 0 interest doing any business with Wells Fargo anymore. The whole thing was an error on their end and they've shown no desire to fix the problem or even communicate with the customer, I have to hunt down people to get all the information myself. I requested to have my appraisal fee refunded since they botched my application and I'd rather go to some other lender, of course this was denied too. Now I either have to eat the $500+ appraisal fee or redo the whole process with this shitty bank again. DO NOT use Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, do yourself a favor find a lender that actually care about and want your business!
