Currently painting an old wooden table. I cleaned it off, sanded it down, and applied a layer of primer. I let that dry for a few hours and came back and there were all these yellow stains in the grain of the wood. I googled it and it said it’s the tannins of the wood. But what I’m confused on is that when I wipe it down, the stains wipe off with it. I didn’t think the tannin stains wiped away.So I gave it a really good through cleaning again and then painted over it again with the same primer. And the stains still showed up! I’m so confused why this is happening. I’ve painting wood before and never had this issue. I must have cleaned and repainted like 4 time and the stains are still showing up but are able to be wiped away. Anytime I can do to fix this? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2UmasEP
