Completed desk.Had left over Spider Man drawer pulls from the last desk, so stuck them on here for now. Made with Popular, stained with Minwax Red Oak, and several coats of danish oil to give it a durable surface. Sanded with 400 grit, and 0000 steel wool between coats, with the final coats wet sanded and steel wooled. In a couple weeks, may go over it with shellac or poly. These are the parts that I started with.Mostly 1x2x8ft Popular, a 1x3x8ft, some misc. boards, a 1x16x48 edge-glued board for the top, a quarter sheet of 1/2 inch plywood for the drawer boxes, a 1/4 inch tempered hardboard for the drawer bottoms, and a 1x6 board cut up and edge glued for the drawer fronts. And a 1/4 inch quarter sheet of Birch ply for the paneling. With misc. hardware, came out to $140 from a big box store.Made my own flat pack kit.Gee, I hope I remember where all these parts go.Pocket-hole joined frames for the carcass. The back panel has wider boards in the middle and the right, to give the drawer rail rear mounts something to bite onto. Something I learned since making the last desk. Middle board in that panel is a bit wider yet, if a modesty panel needs to be mounted on the inside rear.Adding pocket holes. These get screwed together to make the carcass.Assembled and stained frame.Sorry, didn't take pictures of the drawer construction. They were done with pocket hole joinery (I know, cheating again), but with a dado cut to hold the tempered hard board for bottoms. Drawer boxes seem strong enough though. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/3jXLnKQ
