Hello!
My grandmother is getting quite old and has just been in the hospital for the last week with extreme hip pains, so I've decided to get her a medic alert bracelet.
She already has a necklace with a button she can press, and that will call the ambulance (St John New Zealand) for her, but she's too kind and doesn't want to bother them (her hip pain has been going on for the last month, and only a week ago did she press the button. That was after being up all night in pain, just so she wouldn't wake them up early.)
So I'm looking for a product that just has a button on it, doesn't need to be tethered to a phone (hence the need for a SIM card or similar.) When she presses the button, it should send some kind of text, alert or tone to her daughter's (who she's living with) phone, or to a matching device.
I'm thinking a smartwatch could do it? She's horrible with technology (trying to teach her to use a touchscreen) so preferably one with a big button that calls for help, and a way to disable the screen. It should also have a long battery life so she doesn't forget to charge it.
We're in New Zealand, and don't have any maximum budget. Obviously we're not going to buy an apple watch, but I would like it to be of reasonable quality.
Hopefully this is the right place to ask, thanks in advance!
