I have several Fidelity ETFs that have severely underperformed comparable funds (e.g., Vanguard)
5 year returns:
Fidelity Extended Market vs Vanguard VXF: 12.89 vs 37.77%
Fidelity Small Cap vs Vanguard VB: 11.52 vs 27.24%
Fidelity 500 vs S&P 500: 53.6 vs 56.4%
What is going on here?? It even underperforms the S&P 500. This was kind of shocking to me. Same story with international. If it were just one fund I would brush it off, but it seems like there is systematic historical underperformance and makes me wonder if I should sell and buy something else immediately.
