Any teenagers or people who started their journey in minimalism as a teenager?

I’m currently 16 (and obviously still live with my parents and siblings) and I’ve been finding hard to “go minimal” especially since I don’t buy most of my stuff myself, and I don’t want to just outright tell my parents I want to become a minimalist because my stepdad would likely think it’s weird or bug me about it. So to anybody who experienced minimalism as a teenager, what was it like? What struggles did you face? How did you find a way to deal with them? Thank you to anybody’s taking the time to read and of course I’d love to hear any advice/stories from people who haven’t gone through this as a teenager but still have input.
