So, an incident occurred several months ago and my boyfriend came to a settlement of around several million dollars which he will be receiving in December. We are in the NYC area, and he wanted to get an apartment in December of around $XX,XXX+ a month for rent. I suggested to him that maybe he should purchase an apartment rather then renting, and I told him that spending $XX,XXX a month on an apartment was a bit excessive.
I just joined this subreddit today and honestly do not have the most knowledge on finances (I’m 19 and he’s 20 to put it into perspective.) And I definitely don’t want to steer his mind in the wrong way, and I don’t want him to spend millions on an apartment and regret it several years later. I also thought of pointing him maybe towards a financial advisor, because several million dollars is a lot of money and I don’t want him to make poor investments obviously. Any advice? Please.
Edit: He’s smart with his money already and already has pretty lucrative means. I assure you he won’t blow through the money in 2 months. I just am curious on good investments and how to make the money last longer/grow.
