Back in March this year, I opened a brokerage account to invest in a few index funds and some individual stocks. Out of pure luck, the timing worked out and I’ve seen some really great returns.
I’m now getting close to about as much money as I would need to pay off all my debt from my credit card.
Should I sell off all my positions and take the cash to pay off credit? Or should I continue to make regular payments on the credit card to get it paid off in about 2 years?
On one hand, being debt free sounds great but on the other, I wonder if I’m losing out in a great long term investment strategy by selling all my stocks. If I kept my investments, there is a chance I’d make significantly more but if I sell off, I’d be starting from scratch again.
Thoughts??
