I work full time and am taking some math courses at Stanford through the Stanford Center for Professional Development. The courses are not cheap however, they're more than $3000 each.
I was reading through this page (https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/tax-benefits-for-education-information-center) but I'm having trouble understanding exactly where I stand. Furthermore, someone told me that I can only claim these courses as a tax deduction if I'm "under a certain total package limit", and I'm not sure what that means.
I am just looking for some clarity on this situation. I like the courses but $3000+ out of pocket is tough for me financially.
