I was laid off 3/23/20 and applied for Online Unemployment Benefits that same night. It was a monday I was paid for that entire day.
Upon going to EDD's online website, i certified for benefits from the week I was unemployed and the next week ending in 4/04.
EDD said i earned "excessive earnings" for week 1, which makes no sense to me. I made $18.50 an hour and was only paid for 1 day that week. For the 2nd week i was not paid.
I received a paper certification for those two weeks as well but haven't mailed it since I thought doing it online was sufficient, I'll go to the post office and mail it tomorrow anyways.
I have since been unable to re-certify for benefits and am not sure why. I filled it out with another coworker of mine (who makes slightly more, i might add) and she has already received 3 paychecks from EDD to my Zero.
I'm a mostly independent recent college grad paying rent/food/insurance costs on my own. I filed my 2019 taxes independently and that refund and my limited savings have been keeping me afloat.
Does anyone know who I can speak to for help about getting paid? My savings won't last long, I'm applying for jobs but obviously having trouble.
Is there a reason I havent been receiving benefits? Calling EDD just leads me in circles and I'm unable to speak with anyone.
