Hi everyone, just thought I would give some perspective on the coronavirus as someone living in Seattle; the nursing home is not far from where I live and the high school that is shut down is even closer.

If the market is more-so worried about COVID being widespread, then it should be worried. If it is more-so concerned with supply chain and worker productivity, then it definitely depends on the industry; tech workers and industries aren't as effected.

As suspected, there are plenty of cases that are not being reported and we were NOT prepared; the hospitals are suspecting tons of patients coming in have COVID but they weren't even able to test the majority of them and many people who were "tested" are only tested for symptoms rather than actually having COVID; the problem is that a person may not be showing symptoms but still have COVID.

The state is trying to rent out RV's and buy motels in order to be able to harbor more patients that have COVID.

The hotlines for calling if you suspect you have coronavirus don't work, or rather no one is choosing to answer. If you think that you have COVID then you essentially have to drive to the doctor and potentially risk further spread of the virus (but some people were driven in an ambulance?? I'm not sure how some are and some others aren't). Plus, it may not even be helpful since much of the advice from doctors is just to stay home and self quarantine.

There is a somewhat notable difference in the amount of people that are out- a decent number students, middle school, high school, and college students are not showing up to classes, not much people at the gym, but more importantly is that businesses are seeing much less traffic due to the COVID fears; especially since we are seeing and hearing of more people getting sick. Microsoft and Amazon employees are working from home and events/gatherings are being cancelled.

I wouldn't say that anyone is really panicking other than washing their hands and sanitizing 10x more often and buying out everything at Costco; people still hang out or get coffee but not as often as before (no starbucks have been closed yet lol) and etc. It seems that everyone at this point knows a person/heard of someone getting COVID (though unofficially).

Most people aren't super worried (unless you're old) but I wouldn't be surprised to see a slowdown.
