I like in an apartment with baseboard heat controlled by a central boiler and I have no control over the heat. Plus side: I don't pay for gas/heat. On the other hand, sometimes it gets QUITE toasty.

I would open the windows a bit normally, but I recently adopted a cat and the street noise (my complex is off a major street) is just a bit much for her, and it is quite loud anyway so I prefer to not have them open anyway. Plus, she likes the heat, she lays near the baseboard heaters all the time, crazy cat.

Now I went from a terribly cold, drafty apartment to this one a little over a month ago and it's been a bit of a shock to my system. I'm so used to cozying up and now it's February in the Midwest and I need to walk around in my underwear to be able to stand it.

That said, I still would love to use a blanket or sheet of some kind when I'm on the couch! But I'm crap at knowing what is actually going to be breathable and cool without spending a fortune.

General tips on how to keep cool in this situation are also appreciated!
