https://ift.tt/2UvXyoO this weekend I went from LA to SF and when we got out of the highway, on a pretty steep and busy street I put my car in Park at a red light but when I went to put it back to drive, the shifter was free from the transmission, meaning the shifter cable must've broken leaving me stranded, on a hill, in Park, with plenty of traffic behind me.Called a tow company, which told me they'd need 20 minutes to get there, had to divert traffic on my own to the other lanes in the meantime. At this point I had no tools, no duct tape, nothing that could've helped me fix this mess. When I found out that the shift linkage bushing had broken off, I went under the car (mind you I had put the second Parking brake on for safety) and I used the only thing I had lying around to bodge it together which were 2$ Huawei Earphones. Not only did it work in fixing the shifter long enough for me to get to an autozone on my own and then fix it properly, those earphones still work perfectly!Always have duct tape or spare earphones in your car! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/31sJzS4
