I'll try to be brief. I'm currently laying awake worrying about money.

A couple of years ago I was pretty badly in debt. I had debt collectors chasing me and the interest accruing on my debt kept me from ever being able to pay anything off.

Cut to now where a mixture of good fortune and hard work means I'm now out of debt. I am self-employed so am in a good position where I can increase my income through hard graft. Over the last year I have bought a house, had a child, built a music studio (I'm a working musician) and have been renovating said house. I've just paid my tax bill and despite the previous events, have a few thousand still saved up in an ISA.

I have more anxiety over money now than I ever have had before. I used to worry if I was getting close to my overdraft limit. Now I think I'm going to lose my house and ruin my kids life if I don't save at least a grand every month. Unless I have at least a reserve of a months costs in my current account I feel like I'm going to spiral into debt again. The fact that I've just paid my tax bill makes me feel like I've lost all my savings, even though I still have plenty leftover.

Does anyone else feel this way now that they have gotten themselves into a better position? What do you do to keep yourself going mad with anxiety?

Edit: my current account is just a daily account. I like to keep two months worth of bills in here, hence why if there is only one, I feel like I'm broke. My savings accounts are completely different which is where I have my emergency savings, currently at 3 months. My business account also has a 3 month reserve and then a joint account with a further reserve. - Apologies my comment on my current account confuses people. It has a rubbish interest rate so I don't keep any savings in there.

TLDR: was broke and happy, now am doing well and have major anxiety over it. Do you have this and what are your coping methods?
