I am convinced to buy the first pair of shoes in my whole life that costs more than $50. The idea of not having to shop for shoes every year has become very appealing. Additionally, buying these shoes doesn't send any money to China, which is another thing I believe is becoming more and more important. (I just ordered my first two pairs of Darn Tough socks to go with these shoes.)

So obviously I am not a fancy shoe guy. I work in a small, very casual office. Very occasionally I need to look nice for a client meeting. Sometimes I work on construction sites, and I have a good set of steel toes that is already 4+ years old and I hope to own for many more years. So I don't need fancy leather shoes very often. The appeal of these is shoes is not looking fancy, it's just the fact that they will last for 10+ years, and also being made in America.

For someone like me, would you recommend these shoes as every day shoes, or are they too fancy for that? Is there another alternative that might be a better choice for someone like me, who almost always wears tennis shoes, steel toes, or flip flops? I have looked at other brands like Solovair and a few others based on this sub's recommendations, but they all seem like even fancier shoes.

Your advice is graciously appreciated. Thanks in advance.
