I'm trying to replace the old, ugly sconces in my house, and hit a bit of a snag. The old sconces were the kind that have a center stud that screws into the box. The new sconces have a bracket that's supposed to screw into the sides of the junction box. It seems like I could try digging around in the plaster to see if I could find a screw hole on the junction box.
