Hey folks!
I'll be 18 in two months and heading off to college in the fall, so I could use some advice!
Any general advice, mistakes to avoid, or general important info about personal finances would be greatly appreciated!
Bit of detail:
I currently do not have a job. There's a really good paid ($15/hr) internship that I'm applying to for the summer (though I'm searching for other options — I plan to be a polisci major so I've been looking at political internships).
My current budget for whatever money I get is:
40% entertainment, 30% savings, 15% giving, 15% necessary spending (my parents are nice and buy pretty much everything I need).
Once I'm in college, I'm planning to make it 45% necessary spending, 20% savings, 20% entertainment, 15% giving (this may change once I have a serious discussion with my parents about my personal finances as an adult). Whatever money that I have leftover from entertainment/necessary spending will be 50/50 split between more savings and stocks. I'm going to try to make myself stick to this as much as possible (are those budgeting apps any good?).
