I don't know if the link between casual sex and simple living is a tenuous one, but I've found this community supportive/helpful in the past so I thought it'd be a good idea to post here.
I am a 29-year-old man and I have only slept with three people. Society, particularly young people, seem to be moving towards a trend of sex without commitment and multiple sexual partners within the same year, let alone lifetime.
The proliferation of hookup apps like Tinder and the memes about "catching flights, not feelings" seem to point to a cultural mindset that emphasizes the stress-free life of engaging in casual sex.
I guess I would like to ask for opinions on this topic. I don't know if it is a "grass is always greener" thing, but it seems like the single, casual sex lifestyle is the preferred option for simple living. Since I've never engaged in casual sex, I don't know what it is like, but I am curious about it.
On paper, fucking people without committing to them sounds much less stressful than partnering up with someone who will possibly end up making you unhappy.
I speak with some experience here because I've been with a woman for nearly 4 years and I'm starting to feel miserable. Every attractive woman I see, I mentally desire sex with her. It's like my subconscious is telling me that sexual hedonism is what will make my life simpler and happier. Is casual sex the answer to living more simply in this regard? Are there any stresses at all from living that lifestyle that I am overlooking?
