Hi there!Since I've bought my house about a year and a half ago, I've done lots of projects and had some pretty good success! However, one thing I've noticed since I've moved up to my bedroom on my hardwood floors from my secluded basement is the rumbling from large semis and tractors when they go passed my house on a fairly busy road. The house used to have carpet, and I think that probably muted some of this noise, but now the house has nice exposed oak floors that seem to transmit all noise that touches it.So, my question is this: What are different ways y'all have reduced road noise and rumbling from massive trucks in your houses or condos? I was thinking about putting Rockwool/Owen cornings R-30 rock wool in the floor joists of the main floor to try and dampen the sound that gets absorbed from the road...but my internet searches haven't turned up much of anything on this type of project. The rumbling is made worse by potholes in the road that cause the weight of the truck to slam around. So the deep rumble is transimitted throughout the house, including my bedroom on the main floor. The basement room doesn't get this nearly as bad as it is sitting on carpet, concrete, and loads of soil! The bedroom upstairs is on 2x6's for the floor joists and oak floors, so all sound gets transmitted...I'd like to think that Rockwool or some other insulation in between the joists throughout the house could really help mute this deep road noise...but I don't want to have a $1000 experiment turn up nothing (at least my house would be fire proofed??)What are good options available? The two common ones are rockwool and fiber glass...what about sprayfoam under the floor? Some other materials?Help plz! Thanks in advance! :) via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2qZVWre
