Hey r/DIY!About 3 years ago I purchased a 1920's Boston Style duplex (1 unit up, 1 unit down), and have recently started having issues where the floor was sagging. Upon further inspection, it seems there is no subfloor under the hardwoods so where there are joints in the hardwood in between the joists, there is no support (minus the tongue and groove of the floors). As of right now, I can think of two possible solutions:Install new hardwoods w. a subfloorAccess the affected areas from the downstairs apartment's ceiling, and reinforce the sagging boards by tying a 2x4 to the joists. This would require me to cut out the drywall in the downstairs ceiling to get access. The issue is happening in 3 or 4 places currently, and I am guessing that this will happen in other high traffic areas down the road.Does anyone have any potential ideas outside of these 2 that I could do to fix this?Thank you all! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/35G5KWf
