So, I have been saving for my Son’s college for...jeez almost 11 years. My parents did it for me when I was young. I wanted to do the same thing for him. At first, it was almost nothing. Lost a lot when the economy dropped....gained it back. Hoping to prevent that again.
I can’t find any information about what Mr. Sanders or Mrs. Warren plan on doing for the people that have already invested a lot of money in College Tuition funds. Since they may be up for presidency, I am extremely worried about the money that I have placed in this account. All I can find is how they are going to have free tuition for all.
I have several tiers to the account, at this point. 10 year project. All of them age based. In Ohio, the max contribution is $4000...increased a year to two ago from $2000...I have always done more, because I can get the deduction later. I currently have enough to pay off half of my home in that account. Plan was to use the extra amount that I paid to still have the deduction....
I am petrified that one of these two will take office and sink my money that I have sacrificed for and saved for him to have the same opportunities....well it will go away. I know for a fact that I could pay close to half of my home off at this point with the money that has been allocated to these accounts. If I lost it all, I would be devastated.
Getting to long. I am able to adjust funds two times a year. Election is in November. Any advice would be helpful. I plan to move his high risk down to medium. Or, should I hold on for a couple of months?
Post script....I don’t want a political argument. Vote the way you want.
