I apologize for the extremely long post but I feel this was all of the relevant information. I am a 21 year old college student. I just finished my first semester of my Junior year of college. Without going into alot of history, my parents are using the fact that they are paying for my schooling and rent to keep their thumb down on me when it comes to my grades and bank account. I transfered from a 2 year college that was practically free (where I earned my associates degree) to a full university and due to such a change in class pace and expectations, while I did not fail any class, I did not do as well as I would have liked. I told my parents about this and they gave the option of returning home or staying where I am, dropping out of college and working full time because they don't want to pay for me to get a degree if I am not going to have all A's and B's. I want to finish college and get my degree due to the line of work I want to get into. In order to do that I feel that I will have to take out the loans but I also would need to get loans for my rent and possibly phone bill and insurance if they remove me from either. I also feel to be safe I would have to open a new bank account without their names on it. I just have no idea how to go about this in a way where my parents won't disown me completely and I also just don't know where to start. Any and all advice would be appreciated.
