I've read and discussed with some friends in HR that there are all sorts of algorithms that dictate who will and who wont receive a raise/promotion at any given opportunity. Essentially that HR has systems that predict who would and who would not leave the company if not promoted, things of that nature.
It made me curious, what data they're using, & can my employer see whether I purchase stock in my company?
Or is that information completely private from the eyes of big data?
I'm feeling a little overweight in company stock at 15% of my portfolio, even though it's outperformed the S&P500 by about 2% over 35 years and is a fortune 500 company. But I was curious if my companies HR systems can tell if I'm buying ( essentially if I "believe" in the company ) or not. I've done very well at my company, 3 promotions and 4 pay raises in 3 years, but I probably wouldn't dump my company stock if I felt that someone would notice me doing so, but I just want to have less eggs in that 1 basket. The rest of my portfolio is 75% FNILX and 10% small/med cap. I'd like to be no more than 5% in my employers stock.
Has anyone heard about like this, or related to the topic?
