We decided to repair our vintage (20+ years old) appliances whenever possible instead of replacing. When the dryer started squealing, we asked a repairman to check out the washer and dishwasher as well. He also discovered the washer was barely agitating and the sink water was backsliding into the dishwasher. He was able to fix all 3 appliances for $150 and gave them otherwise a clean bill of health for years to come. I’m glad we didn’t wait for the washer or dryer to quit working first, and we saved two service call expenses. 🤗
FYI last year our 36 year old gas oven quit working. The repair dude told us what we needed and let us buy the vintage replacement motherboard on EBay ($60) ourselves - he came back to install it no extra charge for the 2nd visit.
(There was no saving the 46 year old ceramic cooktop when it conked out. C’est la vie.)
