I just wanted to share this because the results were way better than I expected, and because DIY projects so often disappoint or end up being kind of expensive and time-consuming. Not this time!
My sofa is about 7 years old and started looking saggy. No amount of fluffing was helping. The frame and upholstery (washable microfiber) look ok, so I didn't feel right about shopping for a new sofa. The back cushions looked the worst. I opened them up and realized it was just poly-fill in there - no foam.
I found some videos on youtube that show how to refill cushions, got some poly-fill at the fabric store, and started going to town. I only needed less than $20 worth of poly-fill, a pair of scissors, and a stapler. I accidentally bought more filler than I needed - probably would have been fine with 3-5 lbs. After about 30 minutes of adding filler, both to the back cushions and the underside of the bottom cushions, my sofa looks and feels new! I just saved myself so much money!
