I am looking to buy a winter jacket that can keep me warm in temperatures around 4C/39F. I want to get one before going to Japan in the winter, but I'm not sure if I should spend $1000 on a jacket I may not use often since I live in LA. I was looking at other posts saying I should go to Patagonia or Northface, but I am wondering if I can just go to Uniqlo or a thrift store. I do want a nice jacket that will last a while, but I don't want to spend a couple hundred dollars. My budget is around $150, $200 is pushing it, but I will consider something more expensive if it is guaranteed to last me a few decades. Thank you.
