Link: Treehouse Project 2018A bit of background information:At the beginning of last summer (2018) my best friend wanted to hire me as an Apprentice Contractor as I was looking for work to assist in funding my bills at school and to stay busy. Naturally I thought this would be a good chance to start doing some serious hands on work (I had run out of luck attempting to find any summer engineering internships). As soon as I'd started working, my coworkers and I jumped head first into building a moderately sized residential deck. At first the work was awful; I'd assumed I had made a huge mistake by choosing to haul bags of concrete in humid weather during the little time off I was granted from engineering school a.k.a. sleep deprived purgatory. It was only a few weeks later I'd realized how unique it felt to assemble a wooden structure from raw materials with bare hands, sweat, and lots of red bull.Come August 2018, I was asked by a family member if I could build them a treehouse (had they asked the same thing 3 months prior I'd say "no way in hell") but I immediately obliged as it seemed like such a fun challenge. Here is a photo timeline of my journey and I hope you enjoy.P.S. For the skilled carpenters viewing this, feel free to leave any suggestions/trade tips on my work as I'm certain this could have been built much more robust. Also, because the tree was essentially rotted away, I suppose this could be considered a "deck with very long legs" as I didn't want any of the load to rely on the dying trunk. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/33eI7D9
